60% of the country is in drought. 114 just died in California due to heat. 2005 was the hottest year ever recorded. Great Britain just had their hottest July in history....All the things the "crazy" liberals have been predicting for the past few years are happening on a daily basis. What was the right-wing's response? A massive tax incentive to buy SUVs.

Jenny - Summer is typically the season when crops GROW, not got scorched.
Maybe this will enlighten your little pea-brain:

See, right in the first sentence it uses the phrase ABNORMALLY. That means NOT NORMAL, despite your childish claim to the contrary....

Pops - Oops. It looks like it is YOU who needs the science class. Here you go:
http://www.godandscience.org/apologetics/global_warming.html
As you can see....scientists have found a way to measure CO2 going back SIX HUNDRED THOUSAND YEARS....and CO2 levels now are like nothing the world has seen over that period. What's happening now has NOTHING to do with natural cyclical patterns....but thanks for playing.

Heidi 4 - Terrorists attacks destroyed 2 buildings in New York. A global warming fueled hurricane destroyed the entire Gulf Coast and laid waste to one of America's greatest cities. The slight increase in water temperature in the Gulf of Mexico was all it took to turn a rather middling hurricane into a level 5 monster. Droughts are laying waste to the entire Midwest. But, your right, this isn't something worth worrying about....

Yeah. They were also saying in the 70s that we were entering an Ice Age. Yes, it's hot all over, but it's just normal earth cycles. We'll see a cooling trend soon.
This IS normal. I remember in 2000, when I lived in Oklahoma for a year, it was over 100 degrees every day, with no rain. It was AWFUL. Plus it was windy, and all the grass was dead so all that was left was dust...
Scientists agree this is the THIRD worst drought in recent history. However, they also discovered that in the Middle Ages, the earth saw a cooling trend. That was about the time that the polar ice caps began to expand. Over time, they've expanded and melted many times.
Even if "global warming" is completely true, considering how slowly the ice caps are actually melting, it would be years before we saw a fifty-foot tidal wave...because it won't happen. If you keep adding a drop of water to a glass, it's not going to suddenly overflow.
Besides, wouldn't it make sense to take the water from the oceans, and purify them to be used as drinking water?
I've seen the earth cool and heat several times just in my short lifetime, and people who are older (like my mom, who has forty-two years on me) remember many times as well.
A short heating trend is nothing to worry about. However, if the earth continues to heat like this over the next twenty years nonstop, then THAT'S something to worry about.
In the meantime, I'll just keep doing what I'm doing, and encourage others to do the same: Recycle, use recycled materials, protest forest clear-cutting, and don't litter.
It is our responsibility to take care of the earth, yes. But a slight heating trend doesn't mean that we haven't been.

Hey I agree with you... Just because things are livable now doesn't mean they will be in the future for our children... so we might as well change our technologies to stop our helping of global warming now so it won't affect the future in a negative way. The sad thing is it's not just our country though... if we want to stop it then everyone needs to work together all around the world... China is already looking into providing more solar power technologies, as well as housing that can coinciede with nature better... somethings gunna have to happen if gas prices keep rising though... so slowly but surely we will do something, but in a capatalistic government everything will happen slowly!

Do you really think we puny humans have this effect in our short history of machines that burn fossil fuels? Dinosaur farts had more impact than we do. The liberals are already in control in California and look at their mess. They still have smog, heat waves and pollution. What they don't have is power plants to get a city through the day without a blackout, so they have to transport power from Kentucky. At least they have the most restrictive emission laws on their cars while they burn their $4 a gallon gas. Can on I blame all the hurricanes in Miami on the liberals, since they suck?

First of all, before I am accused of being "right-wing" I am not. I am a libertarian. The globe has been warming since the last Ice Age. Before the last Ice age Greenland was Green. The global temperatures fluctuate naturally and human beings have little or no impact on this.

I am a democrat, but because of my extensive scientific background I cannot be convinced that global warming is a significant issue. The earth is cooling and warming in cycles always. Just because things are in a warm stage now, does not mean that there will not be another cool cycle later. Yes, we should take care of the earth, but as far as the earth's temperature cycles, there is not a significant amount we can do to controll it.

Gee, so the record cool wet weather we are having in Florida is a "micro-liberal-global-cooling-exception" or just natural weather fluctuations? Since when is a drought something new, there have been droughts for as long as there has been water on earth.
And just so you know. When another Republican wins again in '08, America will have spoken again. Crazy Liberal minority!

Isn't it time we sent left-wing conspiracy theorists back to second-grade science class?
Geological records prove that the earth has regularly heated and cooled itself millions of times in history. And by the way, a single volcano emits more CO2 in a single eruption than man has created since the Industrial Revolution...and yet here we are.

With the world on the brink of WWIII, people being killed on a daily basis from rockets, gun fire, cities destroyed, terrorism on our doorstep and you are worrying about global warming! You surely must be obsessed with Gore. Open your front page, watch, Fox, CNN, MSNBC.
How much are you paying in taxes? How much do you receive in welfare benefits? Are you envious of those who prosper. Without their taxes you would not have the benefits you are now enjoying.

A major part of their agenda that is quietly getting pushed through is to fell timber, drill for oil and mine for minerals over vast acres of our national parks. Unfortunately, many Americans are easily manipulated by the Republicans who play "fear factor" every day in the most cynical manner. By definition, a republican wants to maximize profits for a tiny minority while causing the rest of society to pay for the negative effects of their profit taking, either through taxes or decline in standards of living.
