Why does the siren of a police cruiser and/or ambulance in the United Kingdom sound different from those in the United States?

I should be more specific by saying that why don't they both choose a standard universal frequency wavelength?

Because when the americans copied the ambulance, they chose a different horn sound for it. Just like ring tone is different in the UK

(Sorry, but the French had the first ambulance.)

different siren suppliers and contractors. We'd never agree on which country got the contract!

because they choose different wavelenghts and frequencies than the ones used in the US
