I was w/ a man that truly was cold, insensitive and did not know how to show any emotion... neeedless to say I left him rather quickly!

I did find out that his dad was verbally and physically abusive but his father always treted the kids like gold!!??

I think we all have the instincts to love. But for such cold ppl like him and others I believe they have yet to learn it from the right type of person. Like maybe if you were ever in a really serious accident or something, his feelings may come through. Or probably for the next woman he is with she could bring it out in him. Its also that with men, society teaches them that to show emotion is a weakness. And with some women they have just been hurt way to many times. So in each incidence their gurad will always be up. And don't take it personally because even for you I'm sure there are some guys you respond more to than him. So the same will be true for him when he meets that particular woman.

I think it depends on their mental capabilities. These people either have truly cold hearts, and were born that way OR have been treated severely wrong by people and have been hurt awfully bad. Alot of men think I am a b*tch but the truth is, I have been screwed over SO much by men that I do NOT give anyone the time they think they deserve. Yes, I have the need to love someone and I want to get married someday, but I am sick of games. There is only so much you can take til you put up a massive shield around yourself.

Usually they are to engrossed in themselves. There are also other people who had bad experiences and are afraid of getting hurt once they show love. They have built a wall around themselves and showing any emotion such as love would make them vulnerable.
Don't be too quick to judge. Try to research if he has had some history of being hurt in any area.

There sure are. When a child is being raised by someone who never shows love or emotion then usually grow up to be the same way

Yes. Some people will get with other people because it's "the thing to do." They don't really have any real emotion or attachment to the other person. If it was cool to stuff a monkey down your pants, they'd do that just to impress people.

Yes to love someone else you have to love yourself and know how to love. The worst society gets the harder it is to find a decent man atleast for me but they are still out there.

All people are a product of their environment...how they are raised thru their childhood. The ones that can't truly love...have issues within themselves that they alone need to deal with.
