Before women had no birth control and married young and had a baby every year. The man ran around and had affairs and was a real tyrant of the home and the women took what ever he dished out. she had no choice. Few jobs for women and women with children had few opportunitites to make a living. Men who played around were normal. Women where whores. Women came to accept that.
then came the pill, women got smart, and got an education and a job and when The man ran around on her got her a new one.
Then she showed him how it was done.
do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
In other words what goes around comes around.
She quite staying in an abusive relationship. When she could see he wasn't going to be around for the long haul or was playing around now she uses birth control and gets an education and when the kids go to school she gets a job and kicks the drunk out. She has opportunities to make a living.
Plus there is no stigma against sex outside of marriage for the women. Now they both do that. So what happens men can dish it out but they can't take it. Divorce

Domestic violence for one.... many abused women are no longer willing to sit at home and be punching bags, or sex objects, or baby popping machines... the changes in laws show that. There are easier ways to get out of bad marriages these days, and women are less afraid to take them.

I wonder how many people would get married if ceremonies didn't include any observers. More effort is put into pomp and pageantry, than thought is put into the question, "Can I live with this person for the next 50 years if NOTHING changed about them?"

I think there are different factors: The main one definitely is the women's lib. Now women don't have to endure a bad marriage just because we don't have a job and men support us. Also bad choices, made by the passion not by the mind. And also a lack of tolerance. We think we should have a perfect couple. "Perfect " just doesn't exist. "Mr or Mrs Right" ...mm-mm ..sounds a bit difficult....I would say "Mr. or Mrs. 50% right " could be lucky.. the other 50% both have to work on that !

Laziness. People now a days don't want to work things out. It's easier to throw it away than work hard at keeping it. For the Hollyweird community, it's no big deal to get married and then divorced less than a year later. It's better to work hard at it (both parties), than to give up b'cuz things aren't perfect. (nothing is)

It's a character problem. If a person has a bad character, they don't make a good mate. Or if they are basically a good person but a bad judge of character, they will choose badly. People have to work on themselves first if they want a lasting marriage.

Alot of the reason is there is no definition for love . There are many types of love and it means something different to each person . So when one person says they love some one it might mean one thing to them and something else to the person they are with. So if a person doesn't express they're love the way you think they should .Maybe its because it has a different meaning to them .So its good to ask the person your with what love is to them .

we live in a culture that has become very godless and has become very egocentric. everyone seems to be out to please themselves and not so interested in the ones they are with. another factor may be that americans are spending more and more time working and less time vacationing/family time. from my personal divorce i would say issues that contributed were family/inlaw relations, child raising issues, money problems, adultery, and constant bickering.

Men who marry women who don't look half as good as you and then they wake up married and frightened. If all women looked as good as you the divorce rate would be cut in half.

gay marriage!! j/k

its people who don't think before they act.

and probably the fact that us girls are making more money now (sorry) there is proof that a good 60-70% of marriages where the woman makes more money end in divorce.
