I have learned a great deal. Sometimes the answers are very easy to find and you really have to wonder about the person who asked them. However, other times it takes quite a bit of research to track the answer down. I always read the information that I find and usually end up learning something new. If it is especially interesting I will bookmark the site and go back later to continue learning about the subject. To be honest, I answer questions more for what I can learn than to simply provide an answer. I also like to read the other replies because I can learn from them too. There are some very sharp people on this site with a great deal of knowledge.

What I've learnt is that there are a lot more bigots, racists, uber-conservatives and unpleasant ultra-religious types in the US than I thought.

While I won't take it as a cross section of the nation, it's an interesting thing to know. I'm from England, and Britain is, under any circumstances, a far for liberal and egalitarian country. Things in the US seem to have got worse in this respect over the past few years. I lived in NC for 6 months about 7 years ago and didn't encounter anything like the sort of things I've encountered here (on answers). Which is a shame, becuase I rather like the US. It's always a place that I've enjoyed visiting, and I loved living there, and for the most part, I find Americans (in person) to be charming, friendly and welcoming. In fact, some of my best friends are Americans living here in London.

Aside from that, yes I have learned stuff. I think I learn something new every day from Answers, either by reading someone elses answer or thinking about an answer that I'm composing. Even just reading the questions can give you new insight.

Most definately yes.

I am very new to this site and as I have always worked and never had the time to use the computer, this has been an eye opener to me.

I scroll through all the questions and when something tickles my fancy I answer. I research a lot, but most of the time I answer from my heart and life knowledge. If in doubt, I never answer by guesswork or give stupid moronic answers (like some we know) and by reading other answers, I keep an open mind, and learn from others.

What a great question you asked.

My best experience was yesterday, when I answered a question by a moron who used four letter words and his stupidity and moronic behaviour was aptly deleted from the site by the appropriate people.

This I liked, not to hurt this person, but to bring him into line, so that he was stopped from polluting the site with his moronic behaviour.

Ofcourse, and I am really amazed how some people are willing to help. When I ask a question, I always expect some rude answers but there are none! Everybody's so helpful. I learn not only from my questions but also from others' that I wanted to ask before.
My best experience was getting anwers for one of my questions that was based on my personal life. And some answers were really good and got thru to me.
Thanks everybody!

Actually, I have learned some good stuff from these questions & answers!

Also I've learned that there sure are lots of crazy folks out there & it's wise to take all this info with a grain of salt, toss it around in your mind awhile and spit out the crap before you make any profound decisions.

Actually, I have-because when someone asks a question, sometimes I will do the research and find out for them and it's been quite interesting. But for the life, I can't remember what I've learned!!! LOL

Yes. I'm learning how to write. Missed that in school somewhere between slide rules and protesting the Vietnam war.

I think I've learned a lot more from asking them as opposed to answering them

i have been answering mostly questions about people who need help with life issues. I feel like i have become more compastionate for people and have decident that people who talk to strangers in life like while waiting in line somewhere arent as crazy as i used to think but are more likely lonely and just as confused about things as the rest of us.

Not too much except that
-people ask a lot about weight loss, diabetes, diabetes and diet, diets in general, etc. yet they don't read previous questions and replies that hit that exact topic.
-there are some inane questions being asked
