i think that was the name of it but there was a bloke with a curser that use tomake cars and things for him or am i dreaming

Yep it was called automan and he was played by Rex Smith and had a sidekick who - as i remember used to stand around and look worried a lot. He rode around on a motorbike and wore an insane amount of lycra - hey but didnt we all in the 80's Rex Smith went onto to have a career in broadway

It was Automan, like the other guy said.
"The first fully Automatic Man" Got to be about the lousiest choice of a superhero name ever. I expected a car guy.

I remember a short film called 'Killer Holly' in the 80's. It sounds Christmassy but I think it was a summer release.
