I work in a restaurant and working with the public sometimes is such a challange. I get people that come in and are on there cell phones that is so rude you can't you finish your conversation then come in? They complain because it's either to hot or to cold, they dont want to sit where I put them, they complain about the prices, they complain about the food not being to there liking. And some people are just plan @$$holes. My question is WHY?? If you have seen the movie Waiting it is completely true. As they say in the movie don't f**k with people who mess with your food. I would never be that rude when I go to a restaurant. I could write a book on all the rude people that come in. It makes me sick. Some days are worse then others. I think everyone in the world should work in a restaurant at least once in there life. Then they would see how it feels.

Another thing why is it when people walk in the door and I say hi to them they can't even say hi back. Most of them completely ignore me. I HATE THAT!!! Or when they leave I ask how everything was and again they say nothing. It makes me so angry.

It's a sign of the times...Sorry, but I think that a large percentage of people today grew up without any instructions in manners. How many of you know what "the Golden Rule" means? Not too awful long ago, everyone knew this, and it was taught not only in church but at home and in public school. It was "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." In other words, treat other people the way that you would want to be treated. It makes me sad that people are so rude and disrespectful to others. It's not just the restaurant business, although I'm certain you get more than your share of it. Just look at the other drivers on the road, for goodness sake! It's "me first, you don't matter." Very very sad commentary on our society today.

Common courtesy is something some people see as variable.
The best advice I ever received about dating (a million years ago) was to pay as much attention to how your date treats the waiter or waitress as to how your date treats you. Very telling about someone's basic personality on how they treat anyone in any situation.
You are right, it shouldn't matter.
For goodness sake, if your food is only 96% perfect, you need to appreciate what you have and respect the difficulty of the industry. It's a dish of food, not the cure for cancer!

Oh my God, I totally agree with your concerns 100% I too work in a field where I deal with a lot of rude people like that. I believe people who are rude to others lack self confidence. They also lack friends. These people are socially awkward and don't deal with people well. They are classless. I have noticed the better looking the person, the nicer they are. I, by the way an the nicest customer on Earth!!!

Usually the type who berate people in the service industry are those who have little control in their own lives. I used to wait tables and felt sorry for people who talked down to me because I was wearing a uniform.
I think it should be a social requirement for everyone to work at least one year in some sort of service industry job. I think everyone would be a lot more laid back and understanding.

This is my lucky day. I just had a bad day at a restaurant with thestaff not doing their job. When your waitress sends some one else with your meal but brings the check and keeps the tip it makes me angry.. I tip good for good service (35%). Today it was only 15%. My wife did not want me to tip that.I am sorry u met snobs like u describe but it works both ways.Good & bad people eat & good &bad people are waiters& wattresses. You sound like a good one..

Mike Hunt. I used to paintings for a business enterprise the place between the sales reps got here in practically wetting himself with laughter. He were to make certain a shopper, a Mr M Hunt yet he did not comprehend what his first call grew to become into. The receptionist on the place of work greeted our rep and then began to attempt to music down Mr Hunt. It grew to become into basically whilst she referred to as to a colleague "has all people considered Mike Hunt?" that our rep lost it thoroughly!

People tend to be rude because they think they can get away without consequences or they need to make themselves feel better by ranting unnecessarily.

tsk... if you dont like it there - move on, get another job.
Maybe washing stiffers -dead people dont complain!
When I dont like it in a restaurant I dont bother with telling waiters - I tell the manager or simply just leave....
