Kids are the future, we love and respect women.

Besides, men always go down with the ship

This phrase was during the time of chivalry. It was expected that a man would automatically protect both women and children. This is the reason why so many men died during the sinking of the Titanic. Most of the men automatically let the women and children go first. I do not believe it is as true today as it was back then.

I think this is because women are supposed to be the barers of the children and can reproduce to take care of the deficit due to the crisis and the children will grow up to make up for the rest of what the women didn't take care of.

There is a very natural tendency in men to protect women. This is also why women have been restricted (in the past) from front lines combat situations; because when women where there, the percentage of male casualties went up! Men (at least what I'd consider the honorable ones) will always protect those they see as physical/mentally/emotionally weaker than themselves. Typically that means women and children. It is from such genetic backgrounds that we also get phrases such as "Take it like a man" or "so and so is pu**y whooped".

Hope that helps!

The women and children have to go firlst so the men can help them get out and stay behind to make sure everyone is out.

If men went first they would just run over all the women and children and them crushed under their feet.

Because they are thought to be helpless on their own and in need of protection by men.

It's an old left over from the days where women and childrens were not considered equal to men. Today, it makes far less sense, but I'm not really sure if this particular one is a bad idea....

Get the women and children out of harm first is from the old chivalrous notion that grown men are the strong who have a duty to protect the weak.

Because women and children are thought of as more delicate, and if all the women died, there would be no more children from them of that generation, and if all the children died, then there wouldn't be another generation of people. People want humans to continue reproducing, so they want the women and children to live.

Because it's assumed that full-grown men are both more likely to survive the brunt of the crisis and less deserving of pity.
