Whu do so amny people want to oown an animal that should be in the wild???? It is sad that people feel the need to do that. It would not be for the wolf's benefit, so why do you feel you need that.

I think you need a special permit to get a wolf or any wild animal. Those permits require a lot of stuff, like if you were a verternarian and you were taking care of a baby abondoned one. For like the good of the animal and if you have a permit. If you find one and you take it, I guess you could keep it if the police found it you'd be in trouble. You better just stick with a dog.

PLEASE think this over, and do some research.
Wolves are beautiful. i am sure a wolf puppy would be completely adorable. But wolves aren't pets. They haven't been domesticated over thousands of years.
you can not give a wolf a good "home life" unless you have a huge farm. When the wolf is grown, he will attack, catch, eat smaller animals.
Please get a German Shepard ( not a German Shepard-wolf mix) as your pet and read ELFQUEST for the fantasy of having a wolf-friend.

Wolves are wild pack animals that are very stong and not easily domesticated. They are omnivorous predators that attack and kill prey much larger than you are.
Because they are pack animals, raising them solo is like raising a your children locked up in the attic.
They require large spaces to roam, acres if not miles actually, and will chew through fences that you think are secure in order to roam.
They scent mark by, you guessed it, urinating on everything. This could include your bed, your couch, your fences, your house, your foundation, your garden, you car, etc.
Only certain vets will care for a wild animal. And the ones that do are incredibly pricey.
Wolves howl. Are you and your neighbors willing to be kept up all night be their howling?
Wolves are not dogs. You don't train them to fear you. You don't train them not to jump on the couch. If they decide they don't want to do something, they will bite you and possibly kill you.
In short, owning a wolf is a very very bad idea.

At the molecular level, dogs are wolves (Canis lupus) and the wide variation in their adult morphology probably results from simple changes in developmental rates and timing.
Why get a wolf when dogs are domesticated wolves??
Go get a husky they look more like a wolf and they are suited to living with humans unlike wild wolves who are meant to be wild!

Wolves are in many states illegal to keep. My suggestion would be to get a Siberian Husky, Alaskan Husky, Alaskan Malamute, . They are very much like their wolf ancestors both in appearance and personality. The links below are to breed info.
