I am sorry to hear that. I wish I could help you personally in this grief situation. Well, actually I am not sure about where you live and I really don't know about other cities except Toronto, Canada. I mean if you are from Toronto,Canada then I can say you still have a hope because I am gonna give you the contact number of someone, he neither works for Govt. nor anything like that, He is a very kind hearted person of over 60 years or so.His name is Mr. Silverman and he has solved grievances of many people like you. He helps 100% and I think you should contact him first. His job is connected with the City TV and comes on the TV as well. His phone number is 416-340-2449 and I am positively sure that he'll do something for you in this regard. Everything is gonna be fine. Just have faith in God.
God bless you all.

when you agree too a creamation, bye a licened funeral home such as i think in the case of your mother, in, law etc, you sighn a binding contract when you are paying payments on it until the thing is payed off here, etc, since unfortuntely your mother in law died at 51, thyats unfortunate, but the funeral home has a binding contract until they get there cash for there services, they have certain expenxeess even in a creamationn, but i think your getting ripped off here thou i looked ot up and the most creamations cost in most staates is around 1,000 dollars, and yes they can demand payment from you for the rest of the there work, nothing less iof you walk in there with 10.00 dollars firget it her ashes will sit until its [payed off, i know of no orginizationn that will just hand out 2,000 these days etc, your mother in law was geting riped on this creamationn thing like i said etc, good luck now i would see a lawyer on the price for a creamation its just too high, she might as well had a full blown funerall et/

Contact the Secretary of State in the state where the funeral home is and complain.
If that doesn't work hire a lawyer. If you have a good case you won't have to pay upfront. The lawyer will take his money out of the settlement.

First thing you should do is to read the contract your mother-in-law has signed. It *should* spell out what their responsibilities are, and what your rights are.
Without it, you will just be begging for their understanding. It being a business, they exist to make themselves money - not offer a free social services. They are not in any way required to be "understanding," although it would be nice, considering the business they are in.

Find some legal non profit organizations who may be able to take your case for a reduced fee....thats horrible what they are doing...
Also contact the BBB in your area and file a report against them....That is unbelievable...I am so sorry...
