Alright , A pool is a battlezone
with constant chloirnization you can keep algae from forming as it's spores drop in to your pool from their airborne travels.
But if your pool turns green.....your have to change battle tactics.
Chlorine alone will not usually be enough
Step 1 Apply Algaecide.....the atom Bomb in the war
Step 2 (allowing the described time interval) SHOCK your pool.
Step 3 After everything is dead...brush vacuum brush vacuum
Step 4 Clean your Filter
Step 5 Maintain....Float your tabs AND Shock once a week.
Covers also will help in this battle.

RE:
How do I get algae out of my above ground pool?
I have a 18ft x4ft above ground pool and the water is green. I have kept tablets in the pool and also I have kept the ph right in it. I added some chemical for metal and nothing seems to be working to get rid of the green. I am at wits ends with trying to get it back clear. When I filled it up it...

Pool professionals will work on anything. They are just looking to make $. If you have algae all you need is a good algacide and some shock. Most of the local pool companies will test your water, if you bring in a sample. they'll do it free of charge and tell you exactly what you'll need to make your pool clear again.

You need to superchlorinate it. The packages of tablets should tell you how much to put in, but you'll need so much that you should stay out of the pool a day or so. Also, change the pool filter; it could be harboring a bunch of nasty beasties. If the water turns cloudy white, then you could put a few teaspoons of clarifier in it to bind all the dead algae; then all you have to do is vaccuum up the clumps on the bottom of the pool. If none of this works, it might be time to drain and refill the pool. Good luck!

if all else fails you would need to start from scratch and empty
the pool and wash it out or try calling a pool cleaning service. it might be costly but ya can't go into green algae water it just isn't healthy. i have one of those blow up pools i have to
clean it every 2 days it's 10ft x 3ft .be sure to cover it the next time it rains it might help. Good luck .hope the info
was helpful.

Need lots of chlorine and some good old elbow grease. First I would try a shock treatment, that is a very large dose of chlorine as the pool manufacturer would suggest. If that fails to do the trick, the only thing to do is drain it and clean it out with a strong chlorine wash and refill it. Keep the chlorine level a bit higher next time and check it daily.

From experience, the cheapest way to go is to call a pool professional. We had the same problem & spent tons of money trying to clear it up ourselves!!! lol Call a local pool company & it's really not that expensive to get them to come out. Once it's clear, do exactly as they say & you won't have any more problems.

my next door neighbor goes to a pool professional and she takes a sample of her water and they tell her what chemicals she needs to make her pool looking really sparkling. I don't know how much it costs but with everything you have bought as far as chemicals it might be your solution. Good luck and I hope your pool is sparkling before summer is gone
