If you like customer service I would seriously consider staying there and working your way up, you already have the time in, and the BS enhances you for that field. I would apply for positions at or above your most recent customer service level - for example if you were a supervisor then apply for supervisor, manager and trainer jobs. If you were just a rep then apply for rep and supervisor. If you end up interviewing more for the lower level positions in the group you're applying to, make sure to choose your position wisely - ask in the interview about their promotion policy, how many people at "x" level have been promoted from the type of job you would be doing, and do they see opportunity for growth FOR YOU in their organization. If you are positive and proactive with this line of questioning then they will usually be straightforward and tell you your realistic chances for upward movement. Its a high turnover field so in many cases the answer will be a relieved, "yes we would love to have someone onboard that wants to excel and develop to the next position level!"

As a supplement, or if you want to get away from customer service altogether, consider going through a placement service, let them know what you are looking for and ask them to help you get there. You are probably going to have to work more on your resume, this document is key. I would try to piack one or two types of jobs you would like, and tailor a resume to each of them really emphasizing the skills you have in that area.

Hmmm... I'd take a look at my resume and my interviewing skills... would try to improve both. Have a trusted friend or two proof-read and make suggestions about your resume... perhaps you can even have them do a mock interview. If you're willing to relocate, that will open more doors for you. One thing is clear... the financial industry (banks, brokerages, credit bureaus, etc) are hiring... and the trend will only grow in that area from the latest statistics.
