Okay, I'm starting to look into colleges/ universities and making up a list to see which ones I should apply to. However, most of the ones that I really want to go to are pretty selective of their students, so I need some safety schools. My GPA for junior year was 4.60 because I had four AP classes. I'm on the track/ cross country team. I'm involved in the National Honors Society (active member) since freshman year. I also volunteer. My SAT score is 1900, but I'm planning to retake it one more time. My ACT score is 28 (retake again). My SAT II scores are decent, but I have also decided to retake those, as well. I'm also involved in the student government since sophomore year and have worked my way up to vice president. For a student like me, do you have any suggestions on what should be my safety schools? I live in California and would perfer to stay here, but if the school is out of state, I would go. I'm thinking of going into the pharmacy area, so does anyone have any suggestions?

As interesting as college was, I'm glad I don't have to relive the admission process again today. I started college in 1999, not so long ago, but I don't think it was this hectic, even then.
What kind of school do you want to go to, and what do you want to study? My advice is to stop thinking too much about prestige, and apply to schools you really feel comfortable at and that have programs you're interested in. If you want a big school with lots of variety, go to a big school. If you're like me, and you want a small school with lots of interaction with professors, do that. This, of course, is null in void if you need to go to a prestigious school to get into an even more prestigious grad/medical/law school.... but don't lose your sanity doing it.
Good luck. (I can recommend a few small schools in Socal if that's what you're interested in.)

It is good that you are applying to the schools you want to get into. You might even want to call those schools and if possible set up an appointment with the registrar to get a tour of the school. In the meantime you could mention and/or deliver your application there and it might give you an edge. You should also talk to the athletic coach (track) there to see if they are interested in you. If so, you will get an edge that way because the coach might be able to help you. A great school in NH is UNH and a lot of people put it on their list as a backup. This is not to say that a lot of smart people don't go there, but they put it as a back up b/c it is so close to home!.

Where are you in CA and do you want to stay close to home?
What are your primary choices? You should stay in state since you will pay way more for tuition if you go out of state.
As safety net schools, I would look into Cal State Hayward, That new one in Modesto, I think it's Cal State San Juaquin, Sac State, and not a safety net school but one of the best for Pharmacy is UC Davis. I also had a friend who went through the pharmacy program at USD. Humboldt, but I don't know if they have pharm there.
Best of luck!

All that info is interesting, but what is it you want to go to school for? What are your career plans? A college should be picked because it matches up well with your needs, not because of the name.
Know why you are going to school before you go, your odds of success will go way up.
I've posted the AES site below - you can compare colleges, look at pros and cons of different majors, and do career planning. It's free - they won't try to sell you anything.

Your credentials sound great to me! What about UCLA? I think you'd have a good chance of getting into those "hard to get into" schools.
