Liriano is good, but I would go with Verlander. Mainly because he has been in the starting rotation all year while Liriano's ERA includes 20-30 innings of relief work. Verlander is tied for the AL league in wins which also helps is cause. People are more enamored with Liriano because of his strikeouts (because it's a sexy category). Verlander features three above average pitches and the strikeouts will come with time. Cy Young is a possibility, although it's usually not given to rookies, which is stupid.

Liriano will be AL rookie of the year. So far he has been dominant, and a lot of his wins aren't backed up with his team's hitting like Verlander's.
Liriano will probably be, and Verlander might be considered for the Cy Young Award, but i don't think either will win it.

Justin Verlander rookie of the year. That other guy can have the cy young award (and the jinx that goes with it the year after).

Liriano .. He's Dominant .period .. But you should also throw in Jer. Weaver in that mix .. If he can hold up his numbers for the rest of the season he'll have a good chance of winning it .. but i dont think Liriano will slow down .. Verlanders ERA will rise.
So Liriano wins it. .. Hmm .. Cy Young considerations .. sure .. If they play like they are now for the rest of the season.. but i think its between Halladay and Santana

I'm the farthest thing from a RSox fan. But I'm afraid Papelbon is having a better year than your two boys. If he keeps it up, he'll win the rookie and get strong consideration for Cy and MVP. And as long as the Yanks win it this year he can have all three of those awards. GO YANKS!!!

Papelbon will win rookie of the year, because he's from Boston. Everyone knows there's a Yankee/Red Sox bias in MLB. Yes, they should be considered for the Cy Young, but neither of them will get it.
It's supposed to go to the best pitcher in the league, which is likely to be one of these guys, but Schilling or Beckett will probably get it because of the bias I already mentioned. Roy Halladay has an outside chance, but if he's tied with either of the Boston guys in wins, he won't get it.
