Today my bro n his g/f found blue bottles, (but they was green) inside their wheelie bin,so they sprayed in the bin with insect, wasp n flie killer, then tonight they returned home to find maggots all over their back yard, crawling up drain pipe, steps n all over, tried sweepeing them down the drain putting salt down n insect killer, n bleach n water but they just carried on crawling around. They dont wanna put n e thing down that can harm pets or children as they have a small child n a cat. NE1 have NE ideas on what to do to get rid n kill the maggots?

This question has been previously asked, but in just a different way. Type in the Search for questions box on your yahoo questions page the following question: How do you rid a garbage can of maggots. The chosen answer is really detailed and a good one. I give it thumbs up , too.

Use a hospital strength detergent
to clean bin
Coat inside and outside of bin with hospital strength bleach cleaner
Leave to take effect for an hour or so .
Rinse off thoroughly.
Spray the bleach all over inner surface of bin to prevent re-infestation.
Do this when bin is emptied weekly.
Also bin liners will help.

Very hot water with a good squeeze of washing up liquid or anything similar will kill the ones crawling around on the yard. They probably crawled out of the bin to escape the fly poison that had been sprayed in there, but they can't escape hot water or steam.

baby go to wilkinsons, tescos or sainsburys and get some ''jeyes fluid'' that will clean up the area and make it intolerable for the maggots to thrive
the liquid will dry making it safe for pets and children after an hour

i have pets so also get maggots in the summer, they are layed by flies, which thrive on the pet food, we had maggotts in our bin, but some managed to crawl out, they seemed to die themselves but not sure if it was because there was no food or the rain that killed them.
