Everybody loves a rebel - are thugs just 21st century romantics?

I think that the whole thug culture is a mixture of rebel worship, urban decay, and something that some have no choice but to follow. Like someone asked me, why do you think politics haven't stepped in to minimize this trend? They stepped into things like gay marriages. I believe it helps to make the Willie Lynch speech become a reality. If you haven't read the speech, you should. Don't worry, it's short, but it's scary how real it is.

You're still on this subject?
Well, I think it's a little bit of both. Rebels are known to be bad at school which used to not lead to much, but now-a-days leads to being on one side or the other of the drug habit. (Maybe I'm assuming too much, but when I think of a thug or a gangsta I'm just not seeing anything legal.) The only reason they're romanticized is because of the wonderful world of commercialism, which of course leads the young minds to think greatly of thugs who only have to use their arm muscles to make a lot of money illegally; and with our legal system now-a-days it's not like their gonna' get much of a punishment if they are caught - as long as they have a good lawyer.

Neither. I think it is an old thing that looks like a new thing.

It is the return to the traditional idea of men as tough guys because for a couple of decades, men tried really hard to be nice fellows and politically correct and not whistle at women as they went by and so on and so forth.

The other side of this is of course the return of the traditional female role of looking like a simple sexpot.

I guess "limit" is the most important word here...I know everybody loves rebels but to a degree, once the line is crossed it is definitely "Urban decay."

I am going to assume you mean criminals, not thuggees, who worship an ancient power (that's where we get the word 'thug' by the way). My answer to you is no, and a second answer would be that your hypothesis is flawed. Not everyone loves a criminal.
