The Concorde used to land before it took off all the time. All the plane has to do is take less than an hour to travel across an entire time zone while travelling west.

The flight actually leaves 2-3 hours after you left, not before, and it's all because of time zones:

Say you leave London at noon. It's a 10-11 hour flight to California (depending on where in California, weather conditions, etc), so that makes it around 10:00pm when you arrive (London time), but since London is 8 hours ahead of California, that makes it only 2:00pm in California, therefore it's seemingly only a 2-3 hour flight...unless you're the one who's been on the airplane, and then it seems like it has been days!

Conversly, going from California to London, it's a nearly 20 hour journey, if you're only looking at local times. (Leaving at noon from California, you arrive at about 10:00pm California time, which is 6:00am the next day, London time).

(If the flight really did arrive in London 2 hours before it left, it would have to be on a plane much faster than the average Transatlantic commercial flight, making the flight time about 6 hours, rather than the typical 10)

Not strange as incorrect. You leave the UK in the morning and even with time differences etc you arrive usually in the US at some time in the afternoon/ evening depending where you fly to

If it can cross the timezones in 2 hours less than the number of timezones then yes. Each timezone to the west is one hour "before".

Only concorde could do this within the realms of passenger service and it did not fly to california on scheduled service. but you could be a member of military and fly stealth bombers although pyu are more likely to fly into texas.
