What is it with people in the Suburbs and copying?

Question

i just moved to the suburbs from the city, and it seems i can't do anything to the house that the neighbors won't copy off of me, i redid the garden just so it would look different, and now this summer i see that both of my neighbors went out and bought the same ones this summer., and i planted two crabapples in front of my house last summer and my one neighbor did the same exact thing last week.

i know i got bigger things to worry about, i just want my houst to look different than the others.

who else seems to have this problem

im on long island and THIS IS SOOOO TRUE! i was just in my yard the other day and i screamed across to my wife loud enough for the neighbors to hear "Do you think if I took a sh*it in the middle of the street the rest of this neighborhood would too?" It's just unbelievable the trying to keep up with the Jones mentality!

Here's an idea put up a bogus "For Sale" sign up in your yard . Maybe your neighbors will copy that but use real Realtors and they will move away. Once they do that take down your fake sign and be happy! :)

Paint your house an unusual color. My husband mixed his own custom colors for our house and it looks like OUR house. It's a deep dark red with lots of violet in it. The trim is pistaschio green.

Even the UPS guy commented on the color....and how much he likes it!

All the other houses in our neighborhood are so blah colored. They are variations of gray. Blue-gray. Green-gray. Pink-gray.

Our house was gray when we bought it. We hated the color. The house had NO PERSONAILTY. It is now quite zippy and no longer blends in with the winter sky.

There are so many gray houses where I live, one thinks the painting contractors get great deals from the US Navy on surplus paint!

Give your house a zippy, new, personality....Invent a unique to you color and trim!

they probably know how cool and chic you are because you are from the city, and everyone wants to be cool, so you are like thier leader, a suburban Jesus if you will. Just go with it, maybe eventually you can start a cult, and get them all to kill themselves in order to catch a ride on a comet or something, and you'd be free of all the wanna be you's

your neighbors sound like typical, jones's i worked for a sales company where we went door to door, selling things, anyway...all the cute lil neghboorhoods look the same, and one sales tactic was well "ms.jones" across the street bought 5 and they said you were really friendly too....it was soo bad in one neghborhood, on one street alone, there were 3yellow hummers (h3's), and atleast 4australian sheppards with blue eyes lol anyway...the only way it seems to avoid moronic ppl,change things quicker, so they cant keep up with it....
change personal things like mailboxes, or porch decorations as well........

It's better than living a city with all its rats and cockroaches.
