brack down on a 88 ford automadc transmission?

Well, Ford had several automatic transmissions in 1988. The RWD standard was the AOD which gave few problems....most had to do with the sun gear and planetaries. Go to a transmission shop and they might be kind enough to help you out. Good luck.
