I've always put lotion on my legs after shaving them to keep them from getting dry, but I just read in a book I was reading that lotion isn't good to put on right after shaving. What do you ladies think? Do you put lotion on right after shaving your legs? If you do, do you have side effects?

I'd like to know what the moron that wrote that was on.

It's the best thing you can do for them. They get really dry after shaving, and if you don't moisturize them, especially if you live in a dry climate, the skin will easily become unhealthy.

First of all, I would put an astringent on my legs or wherever I had just finished shaving. Then you don't have to worry about infections setting in. After that, any nice moisturizing type lotion will be fine. You will be set all the way around. Remember this, "If God be for us, who can be against us?" - Romans 8:31. Peace and God Bless.

They used to say it was good.
I used to do it for years. I'm older now and my legs always break out for unknown reasons. Doctor said lotion on legs is NOT good directly after shaving. Your pores are open and these chemicals go right into the pores. He said when you are done shaving to run cold water on your legs...which helps to close the pores. Then wait about an hour before applying lotion.

I think that after shaving (for me at least) my legs get really dry. So I would say yes use lotion after shaving, and I never have any problems with it after. It just depends on your skin type!

once you shave, you're removing the proper layer or 2 of shielding ineffective dermis cells out of your dermis. This exposes much less risk-free, extra gentle dermis to the lotion than could be uncovered in case you place the lotion on dermis that wasn't shaved. you're probable gentle and/or mildly allergic to a minimum of quite a number of of the common lotion factors. in case you actual need to, you could artwork with a dermatologist to confirm precisely which one, besides the undeniable fact that it is probable between the paraben preservatives. attempt to locate a lotion for gentle dermis that doesn't have those preservatives, i.e. methylparaben, propylparaben, etc. you additionally can try using in basic terms a undeniable oil, like jojoba or maybe emu, or gentle infant oil that doesn't have preservatives (widespread vegetable or mineral oil would be too greasy). creams are emulsified oils, and it is the oils that do a good style of the moisturizing, via helping your dermis lock in it is organic moisture. (look up "trans-epidermal water loss" for extra innovations) this is why this is terrific to moisturize top after a warm bathe or tub, whilst your dermis has the main water in it. changing the type you shave won't artwork, sorry. Depilitories could be extra clever or they could be plenty worse, there is not any thank you to tell with out attempting. enable me be responsive to how issues artwork out, in case you could.

It is good to moisturize after shaving because shaving removes a layer of skin. Just make sure your lotion doesn't sting.

I always put lotion on right after shaving, otherwise my legs get really dry and scaly looking.

I always put lotion on my legs after shaving and it makes it so they don't become all dry or scally (especaially if you use an electric razor). I've never had any 'side effects'

I don't have side effects. It makes them smoother. U might also want to try moisturizing shave cream-like Skintimate or Venus.
