What do you think of this statement:

Unity is crucial to developing a concept of belonging to a country. The cult of Diversity shatters us into separate cliques. In a country the size and scope of the United States, it is far more important to create commonality than to divide people into discrete categories.

I agree 100%. They keep trying to brainwash us to believe "diversity is a strength." This is what Tucker Carlson had to say about that:

"I was thinking this morning: ‘Diversity is the strength of our country.’ Oh yeah? How’s that? Why don’t you explain that to me? I don’t see that. I mean, is diversity the strength of the Balkans? No."

In fact all around the world you look at places where they have diversity and they're killing each other. Bosnia, Kosovo, Northern Ireland, the West Bank, Sri Lanka -- they're all in the middle of civil wars between the different opposing ethnic groups who live in their respective countries. It isn't working out too well for the white population in mostly black Zimbabwe either ... if you're familiar with the situation there they're robbing, raping and murdering white farmers to steal land they've held for hundreds of years. Absolutely, diversity equals chaos. We see it all around the world. Trying to explain whats good about diversity is like trying to explain whats good about cholera.

I don't agree at all that diversity is the same as chaos. I do agree that dividing people into categories is bad, but that has nothing to do with diversity.

Let's start with Unity, which means some common connection or interest. It means working together toward a common goal.

Diversity is difference. It means everyone or everything is not identical. If two people look different, or speak differently, or think differently, or believe differently, there's diversity. That does mean they cannot work together. It just means they are not carbon-copy clones of each other.

Diversity has nothing to do with categorization. Take ten different individuals, each with a different viewpoint, a different skin tone, a different cultural/religious belief system. Each one is a unique individual That's diversity. You can have diversity without ever needing to categorize people, because you can simply treat them all as unique.

As far as Unity being at odds with Diversity, that's by no means required. In fact, there are many goals that cannot be accomplished without diversity. Here's a trivial example. Try translating something from one language to another if everyone involved only spoke one language. Or trying to see all sides of an object or issue with everyone having the exact same viewpoint. Can't be done.

Diversity is not chaos, nor is diversity opposed to cooperation. What is opposed is the concept of categorization that segregates people into little boxes, puts labels on those boxes, and then sets one group against the other. That's what leads to chaos.

Diversity only leads to separation and categorization when people are not tolerant of differences. So, any problem that might arise comes not from diversity.

It comes only from lack of tolerance.

Just because we have diversity in this country, in races, and culture, doesn't mean chaos.
We all like to remember where we came, and the culture that is ours. In mine case, I'm right from here. I'm Native American, and never want to forget my culture. Nor should we. It's that difference that makes us Americans. We are a country made up of people from many lands, religions, and again cultures.
The Pilgrims came here originally to worship as they saw fit..As more and more people from the old world came here, and than from other parts of the world, diversity was to be expected. We all however, live under the same Constitution, and the laws govern this country
It's what keeps us from having total chaos.
That's not to say that there aren't problems as a result of diversity, but I think America does pretty well under the circumstances, and you need to recognize that fact.

are you promoting genocide for the "good of the country?"

people are going to be diverse... there's not much you can do about it?

we have probably the strongest country EVER and it's been based on diversity....

but HEY I GUESS YOU KNOW BETTER THAN THE ISSUES AMERICA WAS FOUNDED ON?

separate cliques will ALWAYS exist no matter what you do... they exist in even the least "diverse" societies...

what you are saying was the basic idea behind the nazis.. I don't know if you know that or not... but it didn't end well for them..

Nature is your perfect example of diversity without chaos.

Let's look at a meadow in the summer time. You have an abundance of life, every creature is in its own niche, unique to its pattern of survival. Upon first glance it may look like chaos. You have bugs digging up the earth, a summer storm blowing through and scaring the field, rabbits burrowing through, deer trampling the earth, a million different tiny movements which look out of sync, but every single creature down to the lowliest ant has its place in the order of nature. They all work together to make the land what it is. When one species of ant dies out because there is too much water, the species of ant that thrives in wet conditions proliferates.

Diversity is what makes us better because change is a fact of life. If conditions that you thrive in change, then there is someone else who thrives in a different condition who is there to help you survive. Every single contribution of every single culture makes us all better.

Another fact is that we are by nature different, to deny such differences is to deny our individual strengths. Nature has already divided us into discrete categories. We have enough commonality by being human and being american. Unity and diversity are not opposites. Homogeneity and Diversity are.

Diversity and Unity aren't antonyms. Failing to recognize difference does not create unity it causes blandness and mediocrity.

Chaos is caused by lack of acceptance and the inability of people from "diverse" backgrounds to be able to exist together without conflict.

I believe diversity can be a wonderful thing. However, when we go beyond appreciation of diversity and begin scrutinizing our differences, we get into trouble. No longer can uniqueness be appreciated, but it becomes a source for violence and grief. Rather than find ways to learn from our diversity, we lose sight of the beauty that makes us different and lend pain to chaos. I recently went to a benefit concert for Michael Franti and Spearhead. They put on a free show annual in San Francisco called: Power to the Peaceful.

Last night he shared lyrics from a new album he released and I thought what he had to offer was powerful:

"Music is too big for just one station, love is too big for just one nation and God is too big for just one religion."

No. Diversity without acceptance is chaos. Diversity with acceptance (on ALL parts) is unity.

What we need is "grey." We need both diversity and commonality. If we try to emphasize one too much, we'll lose sight of the other.
