If you liked Captain Corelli, I think you'd enjoy Cannery Row by John Steinbeck. It's a beautiful book with the most amazingly lifelike characters.

Everybody's got their own opinion on books, but I would recommend
The time travellers wife
Memoirs of a geisha
wuthering heights
things fall apart
A fine balance
The bell jar
A child called it and the other books in the trilogy.

Anything by Danielle Steele. She's a great writer. I love her novels. Or any classics like Little Women.
