Evolution has nothing to say about where the universe came from. Maybe God created it. Maybe not. Evolutionary scientists do not know, do not claim to know, and find the question irrelevant as they study biological processes.
Scientists simply have found absolute evidence in thousands of different ways that life forms change over time. The evidence is clear to everyone [except those determined for it not to be clear] that human beings have evolved from earlier forms. This does not mean that there is no God. Maybe there is. Maybe not. This is not a matter for "evolution" to determine.
It does mean that some of the written descriptions in scriptures in the Bible, the Koran, are not literally true. The earth is billions of years old. The evidence is absolutely clear. The Bible says otherwise. Maybe the people who wrote the Bible used the word "day" since they could not think in terms of billions of years.
It makes people who like simple answers VERY nervous to hear that the scriptures they believe are not literally true in every detail. Like parents. Like priests and preachers.

If you allow email, I can answer you "For Muslims only?" question more completely. Just send me an email.
As for this question:
No, Catholics have taken a more historical view of the creation stories, and I'm betting many Muslims have as well.
It sounds as though you have a very literal view of the holy work that you study. The historical bible seems to be more of a parable or story, this is the story upon which the Koran is based. You can disagree if you like. That is the scientific approach.
For my part, I do not attempt to limit the way God brought life into being.

It doesn't make you an atheist... it just makes you more rational!
recall that church thought some time ago that the sun revolves around the earth.
There are many wrong things in Koran and the bible. That's why it is important that the bible is revised periodically and keeps track with the science (and not vice verca)

Certainly not. You must think, how did this all get set into motion, if not by a supreme being, namely God?
