People he is 42 years old. He actually had been pitching better of late but the dominant Big Unit of his Mariner and Diamondback days are over. Not all pitchers age as gracefully as Roger Clemens.

Well, to echo everyone else, he's old.

But more than that, he hasn't changed his pitching style and his fastball coming in at 94mph as opposed to 99mph is the difference. Major league hitters can turn around a 94mph fastball with ease, the big problem with him this year is that his slider has been ineffective, which means batters can sit fastball all day.

The guy is 43 years old!! Give him a break. When you're 43 see if you can throw the ball 96MPH. At this point in his career he would just like to win one more World Series and get his 300 wins before he retires.

well consider he is 43 years old, his arm is not what it used to be, he is not going to have the season, he had with our Diamondbacks, maybe that is why we traded him, we got the goods out of him and he is getting tired,

do you remember the bird that got hit my one of his 110mph balls, feathers flew everywhere, that bird did not know what hit it.

sorry, we used up the big unit. he was great when we had him. but he is getting up in age, and the arms don't last forever, especially when you were able to throw 110 mph pitches.

good luck to the Yankees

Time catches up to all ballplayers.

In his prime, Johnson was nothing short of terrifying.

It is still a sad thing to watch an immortal become mortal so quickly.

For a guy who's over 40, he's doing pretty well. You can't just expect him to play like he used to play. He's too old to consistently beat every batter he faces.

Well he is getting pretty old.It is amazing that he has stayed as good as he has been over the last few years so it isn't a huge surprise that he is slowing down.
