When I was in the service, after the pull ring in a hand grenade was pulled and the handle was released you have 6 seconds to get rid of it. Throw it as far as you can and take cover.

Pull the pin, nothing. The pin can be put back in until the spoon on the grenade is released.
Release the spoon.....4-5 seconds
