It was very common to have Saturday Morning Detention in the Chicago Suburbs when John Landis was in High school there. They felt like you really learned your lesson, if they had to ruin your Father & Mother's weekend because you had to serve detention.

The Breakfast Club is one of my favourite films ever and can't be remade,do a next generation thing to it or tamper with it in any way.
If anything i bet you could re-release it exactly the same way now and the kids of today would get it.
Superb movie
As for the detention thing i would have been there every saturday even if i wasn't in detention just like John Bender lol

because real life doesn't mirror movies, even if the movie can mirror real life. oh....and it's kind of weird, i was in a play in high school last spring were we did have a sort of breakfast club type of talk. it was very personal and everyone took something away- i'll never forget it.

because the breakfast club was a stupid film and it would make a boring film if the teacher sat at the front saying no talking

I always wandered that myself....... especially in ISS (in school suspension).....in that they put me in a room by myself lol that killleed.
