NPL or NLP?
Assuming you mean NLP, Neuro-Linguistic Programming.
This methood was assembled by two people who searched for the best methods they could find,. NLP shows elements of the teachings and methods of Fritz Pearls, Wilhelm Reich, Sigmund Freud, Carl Jung, Carl Rogers, Moshe Feldenkrais and many others.
I took a class in NLP (once a week for several weeks) and found it very entertaining. I learned some variations, although I knew the methods, from a clinical training in the methods of the many great therapists and researchers.
I found it important that the NLP instructor was warm and understanding, instead of going by the book, showing the cold shoulder to the needs of others (which is not according to Carl Rogers!).
May be, you want to try a test session before you commit to the instructor. I was lucky that the instructor was a warm-hearted man of high intelligence and very intuitive. He broughjt NLP to life.
I had looked into NLP presentations of others and found the instructors rather cold. I guess you have to try for yourself.
You may also want to look into methods by Fritz Pearls and the many others, utilized in NLP.

"What is Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)
Although many definitions exist for NLP, it is primarily an innovative approach to understanding and directing human experience, communications (both internal and external), and behavior. NLP is a leading edge technology for accelerated human change. With NLP, you will develop an understanding of the relationship between mind, body, emotions, and actions."
There is another method, little known, bypassing the mind and avoiding much suffering. It is Bio*Chakra Symbol JourneysTM. It works with effect-specific, precise, sacred symbols, the meaning of which is known by the unconscious, but the conscious mind often ignors their meaning. This effect is used to release old trauma, without that the cause needs to be known. This method has sometimes changed lives in one session.
Interesting topic, I feel, worth looking into it.
