If you take in too much of anything, it will ultimately destroy you. (e.g. The all-you-can-eat buffet is not a challenge.)
When any pursuit becomes an obsession (you're required to take in more and more to achieve the same pleasant effect), the object of that obsession has more control over you than you do. That's the simple definition of an addiction.

The mysteries of Angelina Jolie's mind are best left undiscovered (this is one of her tatoos). But obviously if you think about it, it means that anything that keeps you alive also slowly over time can become toxic. Take food for example, keep eating it, you get fat and die of heart disease or diabetes. But knowing her it also applies to anything spiritual, philosophical, physical, sexual, relationships, etc. It's a real insight into her nature.

That which gives you comfort or joy brings with it that which will destroy you in the end.
Food can nourish, but it can also kill you with high cholesterol or food poisions.

for instance....a drug addict thinks he gets nourished by taking a drug, but it actually destroys him. In other words, something that makes you feel good (sex, drugs, rock and roll) may not be good for you in the long run.

I'm not sure where you herad it, but here's what I get from it:
It sounds like it something he/she wants or needs, but can be destructive (drugs, alchol, money, whatever quote pretains to).

Evil feeds the self-destructive drive in all of us... Continually indulge it and it will eventually kill you.
