It's usually by the senders address as that is unique. However, most mail software will allow you build a filter that will automatically put mail containing keywords (set by you) straight into the bin.

usually it's the email address.
some can also block a specific IP address to get in to their mailboxes.
Other may use name but usually it only filters the message, say it'll be redirected to a folder...
