I am starting a company which supplies radio imaging such as stabs, sweepers etc

The company will produce the stabs etc and then sell them to the public who want them..

I'm unsure on the name for the company though

LC Media

LC Media Productions

LC Audio

LC Audio Productions

1. Would I need the productions on the name?

2. Which sounds and looks better, and would the work I would be doing come under Media... ?

Thx!

X

Company Name is a very important issue, once you have imprinted an idea of a name, it could cost you millions to change it.

It should not be just unique and distinctive, but specific, descriptive and easy to say.

If you are going for a company, don't forget you will need to add Ltd to the end, so it would be LC Media Ltd, LC Media Productions Ltd, etc.

What does the LC stand for, you initials. How would your shareholders, board members and Secretary react to your name in the company they are playing a part in.

The rules with regards to naming for both Businesses and companies can be obtained from Companies House, of which all companies must be registered to. Go to http://www.companieshouse.gov.uk to check it out, and while your at it, run a name check with some of your ideas.

Lastly, say your companies again and again. Imagine you are answering your busy phone to all your customers looking for quotes. Can you get your name right every time?

I don't think you are going about this the right way.
The names you have chosen are too bland, don't stand out.

Why LC? is this your initials?

1 choose a name that says what you do bluntly and clearly: STABS4U, or Imaging Here

2 choose a name that is a bit intriguing, but gives a hint of what you are doing. As I have not the faintest Idea what stabs are this is hard for me to do, but it might be Highlights, or Private Image, or something even vaguer, like Preview.

3 choose a name that has nothing to do with your work, but might be eye catching, like Crumpet or Shotgun. You could incorporate your initials here and call yourself LC Ramsbottom.

Think outside the square. You need to get the business, you need to grab attention. Your name is the first thing the public will see.

Lastly, you should test the names out on those who might be customers, as different groups of people respond differently.

Personally, I think your name should include something that clearly stands for what you are selling and what you will sell in the future. If you say Audi you are liimiting what you will do in the Future. Keep it short and snappy. LC Media is ok, I think LC Media Productions is a mouthful.

I would also work on the logo. You may notice that many of the high visibility companies are in red, or a more corporate blue or grey.

good luck

The naming of your business could be one of the most important decisions you will make. A name's originality and legal availability will create a real asset value of its own, as it becomes marketed and gains market acceptance.

The name you choose will become the focal point of all the benefits and features that relate to your business. Customers will be able to find and refer others to it in the future.

You'll want to ensure that no other party already has the rights to the names. Do as much free research as you can before you delve into comprehensive research.

I listed some links where you can do some preliminary name checking. However, please be aware that this is merely scratching the surface of what's out there.

Only comprehensive research will tell you if the name is truly available. But, these links are free & a great place to start, so I'd try them out first.

Comprehensive research consists of looking at marks that are similar in Sound, Appearance or Meaning in the pending & registered Federal AND State trademark files as well as the US National Common-Law files.

There are other sites that offer free searching capabilities in conjunction with their commercial services, so I'm not able to post those links due to the Yahoo! TOS. You'll also want to check domain names & yellow pages, so simply do a search for "free domain name search" and "national yellowpages" and the appropriate links will pop up.

Hope that helps! I wish you much success & happiness in all your ventures!
