there are good and bad indie films, and good and bad Hollywood movies.
You have to be selective when choosing a movie that has the qualities of great cinema.
But i tend to prefer indie movies...

Most of the movies I've seen in the past five years were indie movies. Hollywood is just remaking movies they already made now.

Indie cinema used to be as cool as cool can be. Now it is pure crap, though not as crappy as mainstream schlock. Indie films have their own cliches, just as mainstream movies have car chases and explosions.
The sad truth is mainstream movies peaked in the early 1970's, and Indies peaked in the 1980's and 1990's.
Still, there are the occasional movies that renew my faith in the industry. Those are never remakes, however.

big productions make it for the money. Big productions have too many remakes and sequels.
I like Indies because they make it for the art and if lucky make some money.

I like Indie cinema. Originals are great. I like them because they are more artistic and colorful.
