what is the best motherboard and processor combination for under $300.00?

primarily a gaming system, any suggestions helpful. Unsure wether to go with older cheaper p4, amd 64, or to wait for november and intels new set

Get a 2.26 Core Duo Processor

And Intel 945 GnT Board.

I assume you know what else you need to get. You won't be able to get a Core2 Duo system in your price range. If that's what you want, wait for prices to drop.
