My husband works for the post office and these people will actully chase him down the street to get their check. When he is home for lunch they will actually sit out in the street with their vehicle running behind his mail truck and wait for him to leave the house!

There are people like this out there, but unfortunately the governement encourages it. Where I used to live, for those on welfare- the minute they did something to get on their feet, they were cut off or benefits were greatly reduced so they could not support themselves. I encourage a welfare system that encourages people to get out of their situation - where I live now- in order to take advantage of certain welfare programs you have to be doing something productive, take classes, better your situation and they carry you through until you get on your feet and can pay back into the system to help someone else- that is how it should be- unfortunately it is not like that everywhere and we are encouraging a welfare spoiled generation that will even refuse help because it is not good enough for them all the while not lifting a finger to do anything positive or productive. And even worse, there are too many bleeding hearts out there that feel sorry for these people because they are ignorant to how the system actually works and ignorant to the lifestyles of these people and how they 'work' an already messed up system

My opinion doesn't count for much in the whole scheme of things. God tells us that poverty is a curse because of sin. There is a way of living within your means. Sometimes it's difficult; you work hard, buy used, and save the difference. That's when women taught their daughters how to sew, how to cook, and how to keep the household budget before they were out of high school; women and men still teach those values to their children in some homes, as well as how to stretch a dime until it squeals "Keeping up with the Joneses" was a sitcom. It is not a way of life.

Families are "things" oriented these days. It's no wonder our 10 year old children are walking around with cell phones in their ears, while mom and dad, or "mom" or "dad" can hardly pay the mortgage or the rent.

God also tells us about the lazy [not the disabled or the handicapped], He tells us in 2nd Thessalonians that if you don't work, you don't eat. [ 2 Thessalonians 3:10-15]. That means children in the home, too. If they are not given tasks, chores, responsibilities to accomplish every day in the home, then they are not learning how to work and be dependable. If children don't do their chores--they don't eat whatever meals comes next. That doesn't happen but once or twice!

I'm upset about the many hard working women and men who often work several jobs and don't even have enough money to buy decent food or housing.Someone who works hard should not live in poverty.
I'm afraid however that you are victim to the control mechanism used by the real rich to divide the poor so that they will never stand together and fight for their equal share.
I hear your point on abuse of the welfare system and indeed that's concerning and I heard that before. But I still say,why target them while there are 10 percent of the real rich people who earn more in one day than the average middle class family in their whole lifetime?Don't say that they work for it cos wealth leads to more wealth and I don't consider living of your money working.Shouldn't they, this super rich elite pay more taxes? So that all hard working people could have a break on their taxes. So that everyone doesn't have to work extreme hours and has the time to be human, spend time with the family, get enough sleep, educate themselves, enjoy the little things, and not only a tool in the economy.
People who work hard deserve a break but I don't think people on welfare are the guilty ones here.90 percent of wealth is possessed by only 10 percent of the people.Let's get the money where it can be found.

You really hit the nail on the head by saying what you did. Yes this also bugs the heck out of me too!!! I would like to have another baby and have one nine year old already. I work a full time job as does my husband and are struggling financially like everyone else does, but we do the struggling ourselves and don't rely on the government to "help us out". We can't afford another child because of the people out there reproducing and sucking the system dry!! It is appalling and needs to be stopped!! I would love to see strong welfare reform before I die, but it probably won't happen.

Those people are probably doing other untaxable illegal things to support that kind of lifestyle. Have you ever applied for welfare? . If you have any assets, like a nice car, you are expected to sell them to support yourself. Plus, the amount a person is eligible for is not enough to have any kinds of luxuries whatsoever. Contrary to popular belief, the Clinton administration pushed huge welfare reform, limiting benefits as well as requiring recipients to go to work. The system is not set up to support people long term. Those who scam the system are criminals, criminals can be prosecuted. Most others have a real need for those limited benefits.

i think those people are such a low life , i mean get a job for gods sake. work, like all humans should do. by the way, in UK we have people who get that money and work, but illegally, that just pisses me off. in here they are mostly black Africans and Indians that live like that. can you imagine, they are not even British, i mean i don't mind them coming here and working, i don't even mind them if they are getting paid just for a while until they get used to their new environment, but them working and getting part of the tax i pay and better cars, homes, its just not fair. that money should be spent on roads, schools and hospitals rather than being given to these scavengers. especially some of the Indians, i know an Indian man who has three houses next to each other which he got from the council for free and he has given them for rent. how ******* **** is that.i mean no offense to any Indians, just those people who are not being fair. i was thinking of reporting that guy but then i thought it was just over reacting, but now that you guys feel the same then maybe i will. corruption has increased in Britain since these people got here, i have heard they do all sorts of things such as frauds for money.

Of course. Now do you want to get furious. Go look up how many generations of the same family are on welfare. Last I heard we were supporting the sixth generation of some families. Do you feel any better now or are you really upset???

w2 (welfare to work) in wisconsin is intended to prevent that. i don't know about other places. it is frustrating to see people who never paid into the system receiving benefits and living much more affluent lifestyles than the regular working class whose taxes pay for them to do so.

I think it is wrong. I am college educated and my husband and I both have very well paying jobs. However, I do agree that people abuse the system and it really should be stopped.

Where do you get this baloney? If there are such people, report them. You probably are opposed to abortion at the same time that you oppose welfare for single mothers.
