To disarm the people (is) the best and most effectual way to enslave them...
George Mason
To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.
Thomas Jefferson
Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man.
Thomas Jefferson
It is not the function of the government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error.
U.S. Supreme Court Justice : Robert H. Parker
Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.
George Orwell
CAPITAL, n. The seat of misgovernment. That which provides the fire, the pot, the dinner, the table and the knife and fork for the anarchist; the part of the repast that himself supplies is the disgrace before meat.
Ambrose Bierce (1842-1914)
The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
Edmund Burke 1729-1797

You are a lady after my own heart ! Remember (reading about) Prohibition? Outlawing booze only made bootleggers rich; the same thing would happen with guns. Only criminals would have them and they would run rampant on crime sprees. I own 40 handguns and 12 long guns and haven't killed anybody; I also have a permit to carry (and do so). The problem is people, not guns. Our society is very different from when I grew up...in a very bad way. Law abiding citizens NEED to be able to keep a firearm in order to protect themselves. Dialing 911 will get the police there to investigate your death, but not in time to prevent it.

People kill people. If there were no guns, people would just find other ways to kill. And yes, I think a law-abiding citizen should be allowed to have a gun for self-protection.
The problem is, liberals do not comprehend that even if a law was passed making it illegal for anyone but police to have guns, the criminals would NOT turn in their ILLEGALLY OBTAINED guns, because criminals do not care about the law.

people need to wake up on this issue. John Lott's "more guns , less crime" should be required reading for every gun-owner in America.
The UN had a meeting about America's civilians owning small arms and luckily it failed to reach a disarmament agreement. It was on 4th of July , no less. Can you imagine the nerve of these people?
The time to be proactive is here. Join the NRA or any other countless PRO gun, pro gun ownership groups out there.
Less we become "loyal subjects" like those in the UK and Australia. Who fell for the we're not against hunting or gun ownership...just let's get rid of semi auto's and high powered rifles...then "auto" loading pistols, then all pistols, then all rifles.
Now they don't have jack!

People would find a way to kill each other with or without guns. The media never seems to report how many crimes are prevented by gun owners. I do not own a gun, but I certainly believe you should be able to own one for self defense.

I think it's difficult to decide, if it should be legal or illegal, because not all the people has conscious about the damage that guns can cause. I don't like guns because when you have one, you must be prepared for use and possibly hurt some one intentionally or not.

People kill people. I think there should be stricter testing to get any kind of gun and a tougher age restriction. Guns are not the issue. Irresponsible people are the issue.

Its not a issue of sportsmanship..Its the issue on how children are raised. and storage. Sadley enough in "cleaning ones gun" it accidently missfires killing a child. A child gets into His dads cabinet..Or a relative has invited a friend who thinks we can vandilize and steal it and put it up for sale" or even use! Around here its a small "Huntting community,
and it hurts to now see YOUNG kids out shootting in a neighborhood. I was walking my neice in our tiny bit of woods at the side of our house when a pellett went right between my legs..and could of killed her, they would get off because of their age..they only get a warning..and continue. This is not mentioning how our shed also has "arrows stuck in it" as used for target practice" So I would love to say Illeageal,
our loved ones to me is more important then stupid parental guidence. Who are killing us!

Gun ownership is a right given us by the 2nd amendment to the United States Constitution.
Guns are not the problem, criminals are. If you disarm the legal law abiding citizenry, then only lawbreakers will be armed. Gun laws do not work. Criminals, by definition, do not follow the law.
We have the right to defend ourselves.

people kill people. I own lots of guns and have never been tempted too shoot anything but game or targets.
Guns are a resonsibility and people who use them need to educate themselves on proper use ,and try to educate the people who have preconceived notions that guns are evil.
