You are right about some of them, they cannot go outside of the box they've constructed around themselves for fear of the sin of blaspheme. My in-laws are like that and are very hard to be around....so judgemental, closed minded, and unhappy. Being around them would convince almost anybody that Christianity is a fearsome, limiting belief system. But some people need that kind of belief.
I also know many who are not judgemental in the least, love pours out from their hearts, they minister by example instead of by threats (fear), and openly praise Jesus with gratitude as their prayer instead of supplication. These are happy people who I love to be around. I am sure their demeanor is the best way to convert people to their faith.
I think probably 90% of all Christians are right wing mainly because of the abortion issue. If you are truley Christian there is simply no way to condone your run of the mill abortions so right wing is their only choice.

You've obviously only met (or noticed) people who call themselves christians but blatantly aren't. All religions, Christianity included, has people such as those you've described. It's a problem when people take religion and don't understand it, or are mis-taught. Unfortunately it's these people that are remembered by others, such as yourself, thus giving any religion a bad name. The same can be said for any stereotype. Not all gay people like pale pink shirts and manicures yet it's one of the popular images of them. If these are the only Christians you've met I can understand why you might think of it as a problem with Christianity itself, all I can say is please remain open minded. If you're interested and want to find out go along to a Church, look for one running the Alpha course and see for yourself what different Christians are like.

I really hope I'm not like that. I am a Christian, but I don't think trying to brainwash people into thinking like me will achieve anything. I try to show through caring about people that I am trying to be like Jesus. However, Christians are human beings, with all the faults of the rest of humanity. I do agree that some of us are pains in the butt. Politically - I personally don't think politics and religion mix very well. However, I am left- of- centre in my political views.

I am a practicing Roman Catholic. I do not judge other people as I do not have the right to do that.. I believe the world is a worse place without Christianity, but that is my opinion. I am British and in Britain we have freedom of opinion. All I will say is that when your our life is over we will all be judged by Him.

Because people who claim to be religious and holy and all that crap are hypocrits, and hide behind the cloak of the mythical Jesus. Most are just pretending to be religious. No God, no devil, no holy Jesus (only historical Jesus). Heaven and hell are metaphors but people continue to believe int hem as real places anyway. They are not. They were made up by mankind, as was God and the Devil.

Luck, I guess. Many Christians are hypocritical and not very good representatives of the Lord and his Church. And no, the Lord is not like that, I don't think.
See Alma 4:11 (and the rest of the chapter).

Not all of them are like that. I am a Christian, but our duty is to win others to Jesus and show the love to them that Jesus would show.

I wish that those fanatical Christians would back off, and let the real ones get out there and show the world that we only mean to love.
WWJD?
He would love people for who they are, not tell them they are retarded for their views.
Jesus would point out their sins, and let them know that He still loves them, and can forgive them, not tell them they're going to you-know-where.
Jesus is my giude, not those crazy Christians!
