Maybe it was a Goldenrod Spider.... they jump at you only because that is how they hunt.

Basically, spiders are not pests. They usually eat the things that we don't want to be around such as flies.
There are only a few spiders - out of the 50,000 different kinds of spiders! - that are able (or willing) to bite people. Some people have made pets of huge hairy spiders that could actually kill a small bird! They carry them around and scare their friends! Ah!
Take a look at these drawings of them, and decide if you need to get rid of the spider you found or not. And I mean, IF it is one of the harmful ones, you need to clean the house and get rid of any baby spiders or eggs that it may have had. Clean and spray with an insecticide that says it will kill spiders.
If you don't want to pollute your household air, you can make a weak solution of water and liquid soap (Basic H is great) that is good for cleaning windows, and use it to kill flies and spiders without staining things or poisoning your air. Just spray them to knock them down, and then spray them again on the floor or sill. They will drown and you can pick them up with a Kleenex. The spray will not damage your furniture if you wipe it up quickly. This will work for roaches (ugh) as well, but you need to saturate them well since they have very water repellent bodies.
;-D Most people have eaten spiders that have wandered into their mouths when they are sleeping, and they don't even know it! hahaha Now you know why you have worse morning breath than usual! (Just kidding about the morning breath.)

Have a closer look at it are the stripes definitely red because it sounds like a zebra spider to me , they do not have a web so they hunt their prey and catch them by jumping onto them ,it's completely harmless and will not bite you in fact 4 of them have the run of our house at the moment keeping the flies down.

Wow, some people really do see doom everywhere! How many people came up with it's gonna kill you? I'm afraid I can't tell you what the spider actually is, but there are hundreds of species of every animal you're not going to recognise, and in Britain the vast vast majority are completely harmless. It's very unlikely to hurt you. Honest.

Throw a bowl on top of it to cover it so it cannot escape.
Or attempt to smash it if you feel comfortable doing so.
I am not sure what kind is either. You could call animal
control in your state/city to see if they'd possibly know
what it is.

'black widow' or a 'jumping face scratcher' i can't stand it when spiders jump, its gross. Its probably foreign, are you in UK? once in a blue moon people get exotic spiders on banana bunches, try to kill it if you can.
