I believe that we will eventually have one. If yahoo answers existed back then there would probably be a question like "do you think that slavery would ever be abolished?"- I will bet that a vast majority would have answered no to that question. The United States has been able to beat the odds and over time has moved more and more towards the "all men are created equal" in the declaration. Eventually I do believe it will happen.

Yes I believe there will be a minority president one day. They, like all presidents will need to be elected by the majority of the people. Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell are only two examples of people who didn't let race get in their way. They blazed their own path and rose to the top on their own using their own talents. You need to have a little more faith in this country if you are going to be president. You appear to be making excuses now for your future failures. Get past that and show the world what you are made of. Only you can stop you.

I don't think there ever will be an African-American president because there is no such thing as an "African-American"!
I don't go around demanding people to call be Scottish-African just because my ancestors were born there! I was born and raised in South Africa and therefore am South African.
So to answer your question, yes, I'm sure that one day there will be a BLACK president but he/she will still be American! If Mandela went to live in America he would not be an African-American! He'd be a black South African living in America! Just like I am a white South African with Scottish ancestry living in my home country!

I don't think we will as long as a bunch of religious freak, "good 'ol boys" are running the country. I feel religion keeps too many people in the mind-set of the ancient past. And since the ancient past is wrought with prejudice, ignorance, intolerance, hate, and a lack of understanding, the government and religious zealots will never allow it to happen.
We can't even get stem-cell research funded despite the likelihood of curing diseases, so I can't see where a black person (I don't know anyone from Africa) would be taken serious despite their qualifications.

Well you've got four possibilities for the next election.. Condi, Colin, Obama and Ford. Obama and Ford I think would lock it up easy if they ran. They have nothing to bash them on with the exception of a couple small things with Ford's family. I think it'll happen within the next three elections..

I think it will happen eventually....same for a woman president. Maybe Condi could do it and kill 2 birds with one stone! Actually, I'm a Democrat so I wouldn't vote for her. I don't think we'll see a black president anytime soon, but who knows?? If someone ran, they just might win.

Never America is too full of itself and if there were a black president they would probably be an Uncle Tom type of person.

Wow. Yeah, someplace down the line there'll be yet another African American president. enable's no longer ignore approximately different races like asian and latino. however the subsequent one will probable be undeniable previous austere whiteness.

I hope so. But like another person said, they would have to be a "white" balck person or the studpid racist public would never vote for them.
