Depends if they have anything to add. Sometimes it's better to leave a classic alone. If it's just a case of adding special effects and gore then I don't think they should bother.

If the film is based on a book then that could be a little different as people have different interpretations of stories. If directors/writers etc. think they can do a better job then that's fine.

Problem is that a lot of the remakes turn out to be turkeys. (There are a few exceptions but not many.)

I should think the Halloween remake will stink. The original is the perfect horror movie, it doesn't need messing with. The Texas Chainsaw remake told a different version of the original's story, so it was worth doing. Ditto with Dawn of the Dead and (at least, in the second half), The Hills Have Eyes. But how the hell do you improve on a film like Halloween? The others suffered from budget problems, but Halloween doesn't need a big budget. As for film-makers having run out of ideas, bullshit. Remakes have been around for an awfully long time. They co-exist with original works (the last year we've had The Dark, Hostel, Wolf Creek, The Descent, The Devil's Rejects, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, etc. And regardless of your opinions on any of those films, they were all original works).

I think that no matter how many times they wish to mremake an old horror movie it will never compared to the original. All of the originals are classics. Rob Zombie is making another sequel to the movie, so i guess you can call it a remake.
