Alot of people use it as a scartist remark....like for example.....i have to work tonight and the other replies yay..................that is why it sounds sooo gay.

Cause people usually do that thing with their arms at the same time. "Yay" and they throw both arms back.

No, not so much. I think type written expressions are sideways from what we want to say. It comes across a little lame.
