Instead of voting(which can get rigged sadly) we do this:

All candidates must enter a chess tornament. The one who wins will go to round 2. The one's who have at least one once can also go to round 2. Sorry everybody else goes home.(this is in the likelyhood there are more than 2 candidates. If so there is no chess. Just the activity in round 2)

Round 2:

There will be a computer program that they must use. It'll be like SimCity only it'll be the entire country. There will be many natural disasters, problems that need to be fixed, terrorist attacks and how they should get sorted out, and also a budget.

The one that wins must be a good leader. The difficulty must always be on extremely hard as that IS how life is right?

There is no sure shot way to know a candidate is really all that good but this could be better than voting.

Of course voting does have it's advantages.

The idea of finding a new way to elect the president is good. The actual idea of how you'd do it, I'm not so sure about. It seems like people in this country, America, love to elect someone on their personal status and beliefs. If Britney Spears ran for president half of the people would vote for her because she's a celeb. The other half wouldn't vote for her because she's a celeb. No one would take into account what her plans were for the country. People in this country care way to much about other people. They need to go back to thinking about themselves. You know your neighbor next door? Well who cares about them?! Worry about your own damned self!!!! Let's elect a new president that will take care of the country, not just the people who are his religious peers.

This is exquisite! Its the historic persons that don't seem to be afraid to talk out that experience a few fairly well facets. There was once an historic congressman that was once one of the most very only a few that spoke out in opposition to Bush and the warfare in IRAQ again within the early days after nine/eleven - Or might be he was once a senator - "Bird" was once his final identify I feel. He stated a few fairly well matters, however no person listened. And I feel Lee this is making a few fairly fairly well facets!! Americans are outsourcing the whole lot oversees. America is fitting increasingly stylish on different nations with all this outsourcing - its very tricky to uncover some thing to shop for made in North America. You can not be patriotic even supposing you desire to be. I can see buyers short of to economize, and why will have to I care in which some thing is made? But the industry leaders and the political leaders will have to realize greater. America grew to become excellent by means of being competent to make matters, and realize America is letting everybody else make matters for them. Try and uncover some thing made in America. And in case you do, purchase it! Support your nearby jobs and economic climate and industry. Shop at areas that do aid nearby jobs and economic climate and industry. It maybe fine to shop for a product that has a fairly low cost, however the rate should be paid someplace - if you do not pay the rate, who's? Someone shall be getting paid as low as viable. And the product is made foreign. Make selections on the way to create the nation YOU desire to are living in, and on the way to deal with you and your neighbours proper. Vote for anybody who thinks approximately those matters. And vote along with your bucks and do not simply purchase the most affordable priced items. Because the rate will must be paid someplace.

Umm...no...I think voting is better than this idea...
You don't have to be real smart to be good at chess, and smart people aren't necessarily good at it either...
And the SimUS is ok, sorta, kinda, not really, because the program would need to be changed every election, the people designing the program could be helping candidates...Plus, it's a sim, it's not real, half of the time it won't be very accurate.
So for now, I prefer to vote based on who lies to me the best.

well, I would have to ask by whose standards are the outcomes of his decisions in this virtual world judged? People don't really recongnize the extent of the president's job, everyone could do it better but there is so much people don't take into account- no there is nop surefire way but people's opinions and false ideas about what is going on and what someone's motives are always get in the way- as well as moral issues like abortion, etc- our nation is slowly getting to a point where there are no moral codes and there are many here that still live by a moral code - so who gets to say that one guy handled a certain situation better or right over antoher ??

Interesting concept, very interesting. We all know that bush would never have made it to the second level, but Giuliani would go pretty far.

There must aso be some very comprehensive psychological tests as well, there Giuliani would be counted out.

Nah - they should do "Who Wants To Be President?" as a reality TV show.

You figure, Americans are only interested in it if it appears on television. I bet American Idol gets more voter participation than many of the regional US elections do in the Fall.

No, because I could beat almost anyone at chess and Sim City, and doubt I would make a great President.

No, I believe our president should be elected through popular vote instead of the electoral vote.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Your poor grammar saddens me.

Bush won, get over it already ... sobbing about it for 6 years doesn't have you worn out yet?

Good idea. We've had too many clowns in office, so we should do it for everyone in politics. Senate, congress, etc. Let me know when we start the petition. I'll sign.
