In the 50's, there were a couple novelty songs that sort of told a story, but were interspersed with clips from other popular songs of that time. One started out with the narrative "At this very moment, somewhere in outer space, the first earth ship is landing on Mars". (OK for you younger people - I SAID this was in the 1950's.)

Does anyone remember this? Do you remember the name of the song, or who performed it? I think there were one or two others also of this same type - I think one of them, maybe this one or maybe not, had clips from The Purple People Eater.

dickie goodman was the artist...i can't remember the exact title of that particular tune...he had a slew of similar records in the 50s, thru the 60s,and he continued his schtick into the 70s...
