good cars...and if your lower intake gasket goes bad, fix it yourself. simple fix, nothing near $1500 dollars...their mechanics must of really screwed them over...and bobsled is a retard. don't listen to anything he says. ever. i think the grand am would be a good choice for you. GM quality has improved...not declined. their quality is better today than ever before.

You should be aware of lower intake gasket around 40000miles. $1500 fix just about every one gets it. There is a class action law suit going on in the US right now. Transmission issues. Sometimes difficult to start. Some have a lot of Gawdy plastic cladding. My sister bought a 2002 used and has had nothing but problems. Cruise control, Check engine light, Brake lights, Intake seal, not it has an oil leak. But Perhaps she bought a lemon.

cool and good cars but once it gets past 120,000 miles it has problems mostly with the engine. if you are getting one get the 3.4 enigne becuase with the 4 cylinder you will have more problems and sooner then with the other. a friend of mine has a 99 with a little under 200,000 miles but had to relplace the engine at 150,000.

They are OK cars, nothing great. GM cars of late seem to have more maintenance issues because as the company struggles with profitability they are putting cheaper parts in the car. If you are buying a used one, check carfax.com and DO NOT buy a car that use to be a rental car...those are really beaten on....IM me if you need more advice

According to my 3 year old Grandson, "Grand Am" is the misspelling of the word "Grandma" and that pretty much sums it up! :D

I have one and love it. It's easy to manuever, gets good mileage and the air conditioning/heating system is the best.
