My computer keeps freezing. This usually happens when I'm online surfing the net. After a few pass a window pops up and tells me that certain "referenced memory" could not be read. What does this mean and how can i fix it?

There is Malware out there that freezes your computer and produces this warning. It is also a ligitimate function of Windows. You need to give the complete error message with any numbers it lists. This is important as this message can appear for a multitude of functions. The number narrows it down to a specific area to find and do the proper fix.

Go to this site and do a search for the complete error message. I am sure you will find post for it with the fix. If not the make a post and you will get an answer, usually by a MS MVP.

um.. maybe there is some backdoor trojan, virus or spyware /malware trying to access the internet or something.

use Ad Aware or SpyBot Seek and Destroy to identify any adware/malware/spyware you might have..

run one of the online checks available on the Symantec (NortonAntiVirus), McAfee, TrendMicro or PandaAntiVirus websites.

press Ctrl+Alt+Del to bring up the Task Manager. Under the processes tab, end suspicious processes.

go to Start> RUN and run MSCONFIG... in the startup tab, uncheck any suspicious programs. delete their registery references as a more secure measure.

Always use firewall and update your anti virus ...
Use ZoneAlarm, McAfee Personal Firewall or Norton Internet Security for a better online protection.

It could be indicative of a faulty memory in which case you should download some software and run a diagnostic check

Depending on which version of windows you are using, make sure you have the latest updates, including Service Pack 2.

Try deleting your cookies. Or a defrag. Be sure you have checked for viruses and spyware. Make sure the fan is running and your computer isnt getting too hot.
