lime wire but make sure you download the songs that say t1 or higher. not modem songs because the ones that say modem download a lot slower opposed to the ones that say t1 or higher. i have about 1800 songs on my limewire and it onle takes like 10 minutes to download limewire. good luck

I cant believe someone said napster has viruses! It went legal ages ago, if you've downloaded a free "napster" your a sucker.
Any search for free music is asking for trouble. Also. bearshare searches limewire results as well, as per other answer, and is cool, if paid for....the actual software, and its called P2P or fileshareing, is from different scources, the same program, with different amounts of viruses, spyware added. Check your scource, before downloading. Most use a server called Gnuttella, the software is just a client.
Any P2P gets free music. well knowns are Bearshare, and limewire, but many more. All bring up, at least, advertising, on your system, unless you pay a one off, which i did, to bear share, credit cards still in tact, no adverts, and lots of music.
Most viruses on P2P come throgh porn, which its useless for, ...anyhting but porn. Music files, are, generally ok, but scan with your virus checker, individually, and delete files if ness.
There are no longer, any organised sites to download free music from a list, theve all been sued, private P2P is the only sketchily legal way. Any site advertising otherwise...well, its your pc...and privacy!

Limewire is the best downloading programme for avoiding viruses. Bearshare is average. Avoid napster as it has alot of viruses.
