It certainly looks like it would work as one. I am not familar with using game consoles, but if they aquire an ip address via DHCP and inserting the wireless gaming adapter just passed the dhcp request through to the router, then why would it not do the same thing for a pc nic or a hub/switch with multiple nics connected.

Basically, it should. But it may run into problems with non-Linksys routers, particularly when wireless security is enabled.

In theory it should, but when I tried to use one that way it would not work. Not sure if I had a bad one or not but I finally gave up on it. I'm a network engineer by trade so this wasn't a case of "newbieitis".
