Most countries choose to show the number of times they have won the tournament with stars on their jerseys. But the U.S. has never won, so why three stars?

I suppose it is because the USA won the Gold Cup 3 times.

I don't know, I didn't actually notice to be honest. Australia have stars on their jerseys also, but not to be offencive or represent WC wins, it represents the Southern Cross on our flag, so maybe the reason is more to do with some history or tradition concerning the USA.

on the crest? I don't really know. maybe because it looks sweet, and the want to look sweet? I don't know honestly I'm not a US fan.maybe it has to do with the flag as andygurl said.
