AWAY from the carpet! If it's in the direction of linoleum, no worries. In the direction of a dog who will lick anything that might be edible? Even better!
Guess you could wipe it in a glass of V8 and you'd never know the difference but I'd be a little icked, depending on what you spilled it on.
Ok, I've thought way too much about this question. I need another glass of Merlot.

Spilled carrot puree....oooh yummy. lol I have a 5 1/2 month old who actually just knocked the contained out of my hand a few days ago with carrot puree. Get carpet cleaner and spray it. Get a cloth and clean it immediately. It can and will stain especially on a light color. (before you spray it make sure you get as much off as possible without grinding it in)
