I've heard this figure of speech many of times, and I've been trying desperately how you can go three ways from Sunday. I can only think of one so far. Any ideas?

It is not a logical idiom, but I think it is the same general usage as "every which way but loose". I think I've heard this idiomatic phrase in a sentence such as "I'm going to knock you six ways from Sunday" or "I'm going to get this thing done if I have to go three ways from Sunday to do it." In other words, "by any possible way or means of accomplishing something in order to gitter done." Thanks, good question.

I asked my husband if he had ever heard of this "three ways from Sunday" and he said it is like "no way in hell" so I guess there are no ways from Sunday if you want it to be good.
