im trying to get pregnant! and i want a girl, i went online to a ovulation planner calculations websit but when asked length of cycle? i got confused? my last periode lasted 7 days july,15 - july,21 so what dose that make my cycle legth? 25? grr dot get it! please tell me thanks all

It means the number of days between the first day of one period and the last day before the next one starts. It is normally between 24 and 40 days. 28 days is a myth!! (See first URL in souces section below.)

If you want a girl, the only method wtih any scientific backing behind it is the Shettles method (see second URL below). However, since it is only 75-90% effective, you should only use it if you will be thrilled to have a baby of either sex. And you will have better results if you read the book, not just the Web site.

I would also suggest you ignore the online ovulation calendars. They won't tell you when *you* ovulate, only when an *average* woman ovulates!! It would be very helpful if you want to get that average woman pregnant, but not if *you* want to be pregnant! Instead, I would suggest you read _Taking Charge of Your Fertility_ by Toni Weschler.

Your cycle is meassured from day one of your cycle to the next day one of your next cycle. If you do not have regular periods, and you miss a month or a few days, you still count those days, let's see, you can do the math with your last 3 cycles and see how they vary. But the best thing to do when you have irregular cycles is to get a fertility monitor that tells you exactly when you are ovulating, that way you know exactly when your fertile days are and when you can try for a baby girl, I have heard that if you have sex 3 to 2 days prior to ovulation day you can hope for a girl. the best time to get preg is 14 days after the first day you started your period (which is when you ovulate). Your cycle was 8 days. So if you tried getting preg on the 28th, it may work. Even though today is the 29th, you still have a good chance of conception. AJS
