God no.
If it were a purpose revival then it would not be that of 'True Punk rock' which was originally supposed to be against all forms of conformity.
Revive punk rock and you end up with the likes of Green day and Simple Plan. Enough said.

Reviving a genre of music whose time is passed is not the answer. I love punk, but by the time The Stranglers were releasing songs like Golden Brown, punk was dead. It lived briefly and brightly, and bands today who call themselves punk will never truly be. Leave it where it lays, appreciate it for what it was, and the way it makes us feel, then look to the future. We can only hope that space will be made in the music industry once again for talented people who write their own music, play their own instruments, and don't base a career on a pretty face, choreographed dance moves and colour advertising that gets shoved down your throat wherever you go.

true punk rock has been dead for nearly 30 years. there is no way for a true revival as "punk" was a reaction specific to time, place and sociopolitical climate that is now long gone in history. anything efforts at a revival would just be a bastardization of the genre.

Yea, we need a proper punk revival, not this poppy crap that claim to be punk, are classed as punk but are about as punky as the spice girls. eg Fall out Boy, Green Day and all the bands of the like. Theyre not punk. Punk is about rebellion and showing your displeasure at the political and global occurances, its about saying up yours to just about everyone. How the hell does sugar we're going down down ohh na nee nee noo rar do that?!1 Theyre pop you muppets! realise it!!

I wish, but I seriously doubt it. Punk is almost as dead as disco... I mean, we've got groups like the Adicts and I think the NY Dolls are kinda back... but unless they're heard- maybe not welcomed with open arms, but at least tsked by mothers and politicians- it's nothing.
But, hey, I guess if it isn't AS dead as disco, there's a chance.

It got sidetracked into grunge. If there were any great punk bands around now you'd have heard of them. Some bands have kept going, but the neu wave is metal. Thats what the kids are playing now, bless 'em.

Yeah, but more like the anarchy stuff of yesteryear. It would be better than this toned-down, neo-punk stuff going on nowadays. I would love to see some of those crazy stage acts they used to do.

Yes, but I'm afraid the world is just too apathetic and mediocre at the moment. 'I wish I was a punk rocker, with FLOWERS in my HAIR'??

'scuse me foo_fighters_fan_2002, but if u actually bothered to listen to the american idiot album all the way through you'd realise green day fit your definition of punk rock pretty neatly. They are most definitely NOT pop.
